About Herb:
My name is Herb Levine I made aliyah in 1975 from Boston.

Presently, I am the director of youth at risk in Alfe Menashe.
About Sderot:
Four years ago at the height of the kassam bombardment on Sderot , I felt obligated to do something meaningful and began to work with a group of 8th graders at Gotviert public high school with the goal of empowering them with the tools and desire to help themselves and to help others.
The kassams have stopped the gestures of good will have ceased ,many of the young people show signs of post-trauma, outbursts of anger and restlessness. These amazing kids, now 11th graders, realizing that they are the strong ones and refusing to wait for the help that will never come, have pledged to take action.
They are running a leadership program under the auspices of the Israel Youth Awards and have enrolled twenty 8th graders in the program. They are conversant in English , achieve high grades in school and have initiated a number of volunteer projects along with their younger members.
All this they do themselves and without any adult accompaniment and without any financial backing. It is to raise the funds needed to cover the cost of a five day leadership summer camp for their 20 juniors and other enrichment activities outside of Sderot......that is why I am running and asking for your support !
They are looked upon as the role models for the school and the community: conversant in English , they maintain high grades and have already successfully participated along with the younger members in several community wide volunteer projects. They do all this without any financial backing or formal adult supervision.
Please support my run and help me to raise $4750 to make these dreams a reality!
Proceeds go to the efforts of supporting Sderot
